God IS
That's why we believe in HIM

Let me begin by stating that almighty God can not really be described in human language. No, siree.

I don't care how skillful you are with words, there is just no way in which a mere human being can describe the Almighty. In this life we can at best get to a that’s-the-best-I-can-do-in-human-language description of God.

About God we believe... that He is really almighty. More so, in fact, than a mere word can imply. God is mightier than anything known to man. Indeed, He is mightier than we can dream - even in our wildest dreams!

God is also omnipotent. There is only one thing that God cannot do, and that is to be untrue to Himself. But as far as we humans are concerned

God makes the impossible possible.

Something that should make us either very glad (if we serve God), or very concerned (if we don’t serve Him) is the fact that He is omnipresent and omniscient. Yes, there really is nothing that God doesn’t know.

We believe in God’s Trinity. In other words we believe that He is one God, but showing Himself through three persons – the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit.

And about the Bible...
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible and holy Word of God. It is holy and infallible because it was inspired by God. We believe that God inspired people to write what He wanted them to write, and then He used people (many years, or even centuries later) to assemble a selection of the available texts into the Bible as we know it today.

It is our firm belief that there is nothing at all which is necessary for our salvation that was not included in the Bible. And similarly, there is nothing superfluous in the Bible – everything in the Bible is there for a reason, and it is necessary to complete God’s revelation of Himself and his instructions to us.

We also believe that the Bible has authority over us and our lives. This authority comes, not from the fact that the Bible is the oldest Book in the world, but rather from the fact that it is God’s Word. The Bible’s authority does not come from the people who wrote it, but from the God who inspired the words that are contained in it.

About You and Me...
Based on what we are taught in the Bible, we believe that humans were created in the image of God. We were created good, and then we were given a free will – to either follow God’s instructions or go our own way.

Unfortunately, man chose against God, and therefore no human can get to God on her/his own account. That is why we need Jesus, who has taken our sins upon Him, and earned eternal life for us.

But we still have to choose. We either choose Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, or not. We cannot get away from this responsibility of choosing, for not to choose is exactly the same as choosing against Jesus.

About God's Judgment...
Now many people claim that God cannot be so unsympathetic as to let people go to hell, and therefore they claim that hell is just a scary story dished up by the Church in order to frighten people into living lives as suggested by the Church.

This is complete nonsense. The Bible - the holy, infallible Word of almighty God - clearly states that those that have been saved will go to heaven with God, while the rest will go to hell.

Apart from that, consider the following: God is holy. So holy, in fact, that nobody can see his face and live. So holy that He cannot accept sin – much less than a bucket of water can be thrown out on the sun without evaporating.

Because of his holiness, and because God cannot be untrue to Himself, He cannot let sin go unpunished. And no sin can get even close to God without being scorched.

But there is another of God’s attributes that we must consider at this point. He is also merciful. And He bestows his mercy upon anybody and everybody who accepts Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
