Fulfil Your Dreams
How to successfully fulfil your dreams
This is probably one of the greatest needs that people feel in life today.
How can I fulfil my dreams? Or, how can I achieve my dreams? Or, how can I make my dreams come true?
It is said that less than 10% of people fulfil their dreams and desires. But what, exactly, does one have to do in order to fulfil your dreams?
If we look at all the self-help books, tapes, programmes and courses sold daily on this topic, we will realise two things:
- It is important for people to fulfil their dreams; and
- Very few people actually achieve them.
I think it is safe to guess that - like most people - you also want to fulfil your dreams. Right? Sure you do!
For most people their dreams remain just that – dreams. But it doesn’t have to be that way for you. You can be different. You can make your dreams come true.
Yes, you really can!
Let’s take a journey, you and I, towards achieving all that we desire. Will you allow me to help you fulfil your dreams?
First of all, you must know what your dream is - that means you have to
set goals successfully.
Let’s start by asking a question.
If we have dreams – and we all do! - why is it that only a small percentage of people realise their dreams?
Is it because their dreams are better? Most definitely not! But why, then?
I dare to say it is because they take their dreams seriously.
They want to achieve their dreams, and they actually believe that they can achieve them.
That is such an important point that I want to repeat it: You have to want to fulfil your dreams. Not some half-baked little want, but a serious, burning desire!
Next, not only do successful people believe that they can achieve their dreams – they also believe that they will do so. So they set out to do it, and succeed.
Ah, another important point.
You have to believe it is possible. If you can’t do that, you will never achieve it, so you might as well forget about it.
That's not too much to ask, is it? To simply believe that you will fulfil your dreams?
Let’s face it – if the USA didn’t believe they could put a man on the moon, they wouldn’t even have tried. But they did, so they did - they did (believe that they can), so they did (actually do it).
There’s a well-known saying that goes “If you can think it, you can do it”. I want to modify it a little: “If you can think it, and believe that you can do it, you will be able to do it”.
The holy Bible teaches us that “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9: 23) and “If ye have faith ... nothing shall be impossible unto you” (Matt 17: 21) and “According to your faith be it unto you” (Matt 9: 29).
So the first two requirements are:
- Desire; and
- Faith / Belief
But those two, on their own, are not enough. By just desiring something, and believing that you will reach it, you will not make it – except if a miracle happens (and miracles can - and do - happen.
But I’m sure you don’t want to rely on a miracle to make your dreams come true if there is a way of pro-actively doing it, right?
I thought so.
The penultimate ingredient, therefore, is:
How much action, you ask?
As much as it takes.
You can’t build a house if you only lay 10 bricks! Well, maybe you can, but you won't be able to fit more than a few mice in it!
If, however, you lay 10 bricks per day, you’ll build your house – albeit over a very long period of time!!
So I want to qualify my statement about the penultimate ingredient needed for success, and change it to read:
And the last ingredient? I’m sure you can guess it, can’t you?
Yes, of course, it is:
Never give up. Keep trying.
If it doesn’t work out one way, then try another way. And another, and another, and another. Thomas A Edison tried more than 6000 different materials in his effort to create the incandescent light. Six thousand! How many tiems will you try before you give up?
The measure of your desire will determine how long you keep on. If you want something half-heartedly, you'll only try a few times.
But if you have a burning desire, you'll keep on trying.
So build a fire under your desire.
